RIM FIRE UPDATE: 23 AUGUST, 2013 RIM FIRE ANIMAL SHELTERS

Tuolumne County Animal Control is helping those with animals who are affected by the Rim Fire.
Manager Jennifer Clark was Friday's KVML "Newsmaker of the Day".

The first thing that Clark wants everyone to know is that the telephone number for Animal Control is (209) 694-2730.

This is important because a large resource list is being compiled of locations where large animals can be taken as well as people who are able to haul large animals from one area to another.

For those with smaller animals such as dogs and cats, the shelter in Jamestown is open and available to hold pets for the duration of any evacuation caused by the Rim Fire.

Clark asks that if any pet that is brought to the shelter has special requirements such as special food or medication, that all of the supplies and instructions are brought in along with the pet.

As of now, there is enough room to hold dogs and cats at the shelter in Jamestown. Clark says they can expand to other locations if needed.

For those who have property where horses and/or livestock can be taken, Clarke asks that they call the shelter at (209) 694-2730, so that they can be added to the resource list.

From Blythe:  Pets are such an important part in so many of our lives.  Be sure to plan ahead and make arrangements for your animals before your area is on an evacuation alert.  Don't wait until the last minute.   Please refer to these notes from Thursday's briefing.

Briefing today, 2:00 p.m., Word of Life Fellowship, Hwy 108.
There will be a daily briefing, 2:00 p.m. as needed.  Location will be announced for subsequent briefings.  I will post my 'notes' after each briefing.

Be alert.  Be safe.
