Questions from audience:
--absentee owners: how do they get information? no calls are made to primary residence when using the reverse 911 system. Call will leave message if machine available.
PROPANE: turn off if you have to leave house. Do NOT turn back on. Call your propane company to turn it back it.
SPOTTING from fires? who to call? 911. Spotting is when main fire launches burning embers -- can be as far a 1-1.5 miles out
Question to Deputy Incident Commander: How optimistic are you? Confidence: very HIGH. Many operations going on at same time very successfully.
Retardant: good for how long? When dry it is a retardant. It's really a souped up nitrogen.
DC-10s - not always mobile enought to get into drainage aareas. C130s are more flexible and nimble.
non-permanent resident---how to get in to second home/cabin? Show ID to sheriff on duty at roadblock who will probably be from out of area. He'll call local sheriff to have him (her) escort homeowner to house/cabin
ladder - good to leave available
leave hose accessible for firefighters
close drapes- keep radient heat it
cover vents around exterior of house - protect from embers
READY SET GO pamphlets available in lobby.
Containment? 5% contained - Groveland side
This fire will go down in history
how is containment determined? When they are sure that fire along a perimeter won’t be moving.
