HAZE FROM 'POWER FIRE' IS WIDESPREAD

Stanislaus National Forest, CA --

The Power Fire in the Stanislaus National Forest has grown to 300 acres and is 10 percent contained.

The fire is along the eastern edge of Beardsley Reservoir, near Hells Half Acre Road. Highway 108 remains open in the area of the fire. The fire is burning brush and timber along steep and rocky terrain.

An advisory evacuation notice was made for the Cascade Creek and Mill Creek Campgrounds. There are no mandatory evacuations at this time. As you can see from the photo, the Mother Lode has been experiencing very smoky conditions. The fire was first spotted at six o'clock Monday morning.

The haze and smokey conditions have traveled far.  We could certainly smell the acrid smoke around 3:30 a.m. here in Mi Wuk.
