- TODAY (Tuesday): 180K acres; 7th largest in CA history
- strike team “flagging” - house has been ‘spoken’ to; checking for alternate water sources; double checking addresses; checking for streets that are fairly inaccessible;

- restoration and rehabilitation will take place after fire -- assessment will be done of “water bar lines” after everything quiets down - these are the burms along a trail that divert water to the side of the trail/road in forest.

- long term extent of what will happen to forest??? Spring: wildflowers could abound -- many wildflower seeds are dependent upon fires for germination
- 4000 firefighters in area. From Maine > CA > Canadian Border > SO CAL; hot shot crews from all around the country.
- boots on the ground and eyes in the sky--at night they look for hot spots.

- inversion layer - when it lifts and sun comes out, fire gets active

- WEATHER forecast - General weather forecasts do not apply to our local situation
spot weather forecast; spot weather meteorologist - 2 forecasts--upper and lower elevations throughout the day
- predict for today, tonight, tomorrow, and long term
- inversion layer = temp differences in air; keeps air from moving up/down; as inversion layer lifts the fires gains energy. Aircraft can fly when they see the ground.

- clear vegetation around propane tanks
- clear roof
- no gas powered tools
- electric blower ok
- move wood away from house
